Greenhouse Center and gift shop is located in Carson City and it is a full service nursery complete with gift shop full of the stuff that gardens (and dream gardens) are made of. We will have a guided tour along with a short talk on “Critter Control”. From there we will have lunch on your own at world famous Red’s Old 395 Grill where they feature BBQ ribs, crisp salads, Buffalo wings and much more.

After lunch we will go to the Governor’s Mansion. This is the home of the current governor of Nevada. The mansion was built in 1909 and is a fine example of elegantly crafted Classic Revival architecture. There is a very slim possibility we will not be able to do this tour. If that happens, we will tour the capitol building.

Textile Research Center- Nevada State Museum – Tahoe Ridge Winery

You’re in for a fascinating day starting with the Marjorie Russell Clothing and Textile Research Center. It is composed of the costume and textile collections of eighteenth century to current day fashions. Have you ever wondered how the ladies put on their shoes with all those huge dresses they wore? We will have an hour and a half guided tour. Come find out why and what it was like to live back then.

The Nevada State Museum is just down the street. Here you can see some of the history of Nevada. The Carson City Mint building is where coins were minted from 1870 to 1893. Explore Native American culture from their perspective and in their own words.  Visit a silver mine and see where our money comes from. Walk through a ghost town. They change exhibits often so check the site below for further information.

From there we will travel to Genoa for lunch on your own and a little shopping. Then we’ll be on our way to Tahoe Ridge Winery. Nestled in the Carson Valley, on the eastern slope of the great Sierra Nevada mountain range, lies the home of Tahoe Ridge Winery. We will have a tour to see how the wine is made. A visit to the tasting room will provide you the opportunity to savor some wonderful wines.
